Stable Worker Rushed to Hospital After Racehorse Kicks Her Across Parade Ring (Video)

A stable worker was rushed to the hospital after a racehorse suddenly kicked her in a frightening scene before a race in England.

Chloe Briody, a traveling head girl for trainer Richard Fahey, was walking with the racehorse Kameko Fever ahead of a seven-furlong race at Redcar Racecourse in North Yorkshire on Tuesday when the terrifying moment unfolded.

The three-year-old gelding was being led around the parade ring when Briody approached from the horse’s right side.

Seconds later, Kameko Fever kicked out with both hind legs, sending Briody flying across the grass.

Footage shared on social media showed the shocking impact, leaving racing fans immediately concerned for her condition.

Thankfully, Briody avoided serious injury.

She was treated quickly by medical staff at the scene before being taken to the hospital for further evaluation.

Redcar Racing later released a statement thanking people for their concern and giving a positive update.

“Thank you to everyone who has expressed concern following yesterday’s unfortunate accident in the parade ring at Redcar when a member of Richard Fahey’s stable staff was kicked by a horse,” the statement said.

“The staff member was attended to swiftly by expert medical staff at the scene, with further checks being carried out at hospital later,” the statement continued.

The racecourse said it had spoken with the stable and confirmed Briody was doing well.

“Having spoken to the stable this morning, we are happy to confirm that the member of staff is fine apart from some bruising,” Redcar Racing said. “She will be back on her feet soon and we wish her well.”

Fahey also confirmed Briody was recovering.

“It was one of my girls, Chloe, and she is fine,” he told The Mirror. “She went to hospital in an ambulance, they took an x-ray and everything is fine.”

The incident was a scary reminder of just how unpredictable racehorses can be, even in the controlled environment of a parade ring.

What looked like a routine pre-race walk turned into a heart-stopping moment in seconds, but thankfully Briody is expected to recover.
