Chaos Erupts at Wisconsin State Fair as Massive Brawls Break Out (Video)

The final night of the Wisconsin State Fair descended into chaos after a series of fights broke out among groups of young people, sending police rushing through the crowded fairgrounds and forcing some visitors to scramble out of the way.

The violence erupted around 10 p.m. Sunday at Wisconsin State Fair Park in West Allis, a Milwaukee suburb, as the annual event was coming to a close.

Videos posted on social media showed multiple fights breaking out near rides and food stands, with young people seen punching, kicking, tackling and chasing one another through the fairgrounds.

In some clips, large groups could be seen rushing toward the commotion as other fairgoers tried to move away.

Trash cans were knocked over during the disorder, and several people appeared to end up on the ground as others crowded around them.

One video appeared to show a person dressed in black lying on the ground while holding their face. Another person could be seen crouching and covering their head as people nearby continued swinging at them.

At least one clip captured several separate fights breaking out within a short period of time, with crowds quickly gathering around each confrontation to watch and record what was happening.

It remains unclear what initially triggered the fights.

Police from multiple agencies responded, including officers from the Wisconsin State Fair Park Police Department and the West Allis Police Department.

Footage showed officers running toward the disturbances, while mounted police were also seen moving through the area in an effort to bring the situation under control.

At least one police officer was punched in the face during the chaos, fair officials said.

No other injuries were immediately reported.

Authorities also pushed back on social media claims that gunfire had erupted during the incident, saying there were no reported shots fired.

Police dispatch audio captured the urgency of the response.

“They need some help at Spin City. Send anybody extra you have,” an officer could be heard saying, according to WISN 12 News.

The trouble unfolded on the final night of the 2026 Wisconsin State Fair, which ran from Aug. 6 through Aug. 16.

Fair officials later said the disturbances involved both groups already on the grounds and people allegedly trying to enter the fair without authorization.

“Sunday evening, near the close of the annual State Fair, Wisconsin State Fair Park Police, with the support of the Milwaukee and West Allis Police Departments, responded to disturbances on and around Wisconsin State Fair Park,” officials said in a statement.

“This included individuals attempting to gain unauthorized access to the Fair, as well as disturbances involving groups on the grounds. Law enforcement and security staff responded quickly as these incidents occurred.”

Officials stressed that the violence happened during the final hours of an otherwise successful 11-day event attended by hundreds of thousands of people.

“The incidents Sunday evening were isolated to the final hours of the Fair and are not representative of the experience our guests enjoyed throughout the event,” the statement continued.

“The behavior is always unacceptable and is not what we expect or will tolerate at the Wisconsin State Fair Park.”

The incident quickly spilled into Wisconsin politics.

Republican gubernatorial candidate and U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany blamed Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley, a Democrat, for the disorder.

“This is Milwaukee County under David Crowley. Crime. Chaos. At least one officer punched,” Tiffany wrote on X.

“Public safety starts with leadership, and Crowley’s leadership has failed Milwaukee County. Don’t let him fail Wisconsin.”

Retired WTMJ radio host Jeff Wagner also reacted to the videos.

“This is why we can’t have nice things,” Wagner wrote, adding that while details were still emerging, he suspected groups of unruly young people were responsible for causing trouble as the fair came to an end.

Authorities had not immediately said whether any arrests were made or announced what charges could result from the fights.

The exact cause of the disturbance remained under investigation.
