A 29-year-old father of four was stabbed to death in front of his horrified parents in Queens after his family says a stranger suddenly attacked him as they were walking home.
Sulimon Ferrier was killed early Saturday morning near Jamaica Avenue in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, just steps from where his family lives.
Police responded shortly before 1 a.m. to a report of a stabbing near 173-12 Jamaica Avenue, outside Seduction Lounge and Bar.
Officers found Ferrier suffering from multiple stab wounds. He was rushed to Jamaica Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Ferrier had been walking home with his father, Peter Ferrier, after leaving a nearby bar when they encountered a man allegedly making threatening statements.
Peter said the stranger was talking about not being afraid of anyone and threatening to kill people.
Concerned about what they were hearing, Peter told his son they should leave.
But according to Ferrier’s family, the man followed.
Peter said he tried to warn his son as the attacker approached from behind, but there was little time to react.
Ferrier was stabbed in the chest, and a violent struggle followed in the middle of the street. His father said the attacker then managed to stab his son again in the back.
Ferrier’s mother, Cynthia, witnessed the horrifying confrontation and rushed in to help.
Surveillance footage obtained by local news outlets reportedly shows Cynthia confronting the knife-wielding attacker and trying to stop him from hurting her son.
“I wasn’t afraid,” Cynthia told ABC7, explaining that she would rather have been hurt herself than watch her child die.
The wounded Ferrier managed to make it inside a nearby business as his mother desperately tried to stop the bleeding.
Cynthia recalled her son struggling to breathe as she stayed by his side.
CBS New York reported that Ferrier told his mother he loved her during his final moments.
His younger brother was working when friends began sending him video from the scene.
At first, he believed his older brother would survive. He even sent Ferrier a message telling him to call after surgery so he could come see him.
Then their mother called with devastating news: Ferrier was dead.
The family, originally from Guyana, described Ferrier as the heart of their household.
Known to loved ones as “Joe,” he was remembered as someone who constantly checked on relatives and made sure everyone around him was taken care of.
He leaves behind four young children, ranging in age from about 8 months to 10 years old.
Despite losing her son in such a violent way, Cynthia said she has chosen to forgive the man accused of killing him.
“Killing somebody out of anger, now you have to face the penalty,” she told ABC7. “I forgive you.”
Police have not publicly established a motive for the killing, and no arrest had been announced as of Sunday.
CBS reported that investigators were searching for a slim man believed to be about 5-foot-9 who was last seen wearing a blue shirt, black skull cap and gold chain.
Witnesses also told ABC7 that the suspect had been with another man connected to a white pickup truck before fleeing on foot. Detectives have since obtained the vehicle as part of the investigation.
The NYPD’s 103rd Precinct and homicide investigators are continuing to search for the attacker.
Anyone with information can contact NYPD Crime Stoppers at 1-800-577-TIPS. Tips can be submitted anonymously.
For Ferrier’s family, however, an arrest will not undo what happened on Jamaica Avenue.
His father said he could only watch helplessly as his son was attacked just feet away.
Now the family is left grieving a son, brother and young father whose walk home ended in an unimaginable act of violence.

Geesh. So sorry for this family’s loss. Find the azzhole perp and put him in a cage for life!
