Shocking new allegations are pulling back the curtain on life inside the royal family — and they paint a far darker picture of Prince Harry’s upbringing than many ever imagined.

According to a bombshell new book, the Duke of Sussex was allegedly “psychologically oppressed” by his own grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II — all because her focus was locked on shaping Prince William into the future king.

The explosive claims come from royal author Tom Bower in his latest book Betrayal: Power, Deceit And The Fight For The Future Of The Royal Family, which dives deep into the inner workings — and tensions — behind palace walls.

From the very beginning, insiders say Harry knew he was second in line — and second in importance.

“From quite a young age, Harry was conscious that he and William occupied very different positions,” one source revealed. “That shaped everything.”

While the late queen reportedly showed warmth to both grandsons, the book claims her real priority was clear: preparing William to inherit the throne. And for Harry, that meant growing up in the shadow of a brother destined for greatness.

The dynamic wasn’t just symbolic — insiders say it was reinforced daily inside the rigid royal hierarchy.

“William was always at the center of a long-term strategy,” another source said. “Harry’s path? Not so much.”

Over time, that imbalance allegedly left Harry feeling like an outsider within his own family.

According to Bower, palace insiders even described the queen’s treatment of Harry as “patronizing,” with one senior official going as far as to claim the younger prince was “psychologically oppressed.”

The claims echo themes Harry himself explored in his 2023 memoir Spare, where he detailed the emotional weight of being the “other brother” — the one not destined to wear the crown.

And the tensions didn’t stop there.

The book also alleges that King Charles III largely ignored Harry’s frustrations, even as warning signs reportedly grew.

“Don’t bother to compete against William,” one palace official allegedly told Harry — advice that only deepened his sense of being sidelined.

Sources claim that before meeting Meghan Markle, Harry had essentially accepted his role — until everything changed.

Today, the once-close royal brothers are worlds apart — both emotionally and physically. Their relationship reportedly fractured beyond repair after the release of their Netflix series and Harry’s tell-all memoir, with the two barely speaking even when they last appeared in the same room in 2024.

Not surprisingly, Harry and Meghan’s camp is firing back hard.

A spokesperson blasted Bower’s claims, accusing him of crossing the line from criticism into obsession — and pointing to his past remarks about the monarchy “obliterating” the Sussexes as proof of bias.

Still, the allegations are reigniting one of the biggest questions surrounding the royal family:

Was Prince Harry always destined to feel like the outsider — or was he pushed there?

And now that he’s broken away, is he finally telling his side… or settling old scores?
