Joe Rogan is under fire after getting caught in what critics are calling a major slip-up — and this time, the podcast king didn’t double down… he apologized.
The controversy erupted after Rogan recounted where he was when conservative commentator Charlie Kirk was assassinated in 2025 — but eagle-eyed fans quickly noticed something didn’t add up.
During a recent episode of The Joe Rogan Experience with Theo Von, Rogan told listeners he was out elk hunting in Utah when news of Kirk’s shocking shooting broke.
“I was getting text messages from people wanting me to comment,” Rogan said. “I was like, ‘What are you talking about?’ I literally didn’t know what was going on.”
But that version of events didn’t sit right with longtime listeners.
Within hours, social media users dug up footage from the day Kirk was killed — showing Rogan actually learning about the assassination live, mid-podcast, while recording an episode with Charlie Sheen.
“So this just happened… we just found out that Charlie Kirk got shot,” Rogan said in the resurfaced clip, visibly stunned.
The internet pounced.
“What a weird thing to lie about,” one user wrote, sharing the side-by-side clips that quickly went viral.
Facing growing backlash, Rogan didn’t lash out — instead, he admitted he got it wrong.
“Honestly I just remembered it wrong,” he posted. “I would never ‘lie’ about that. I just had a dumb memory moment.”
