At least four people are dead and a child is fighting for their life after a horrific stabbing spree in Louisiana sparked a manhunt Saturday night.
Deputies with the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the area near the 200 block of Ashland Drive in Houma, where authorities said they discovered multiple people dead inside homes.
A juvenile suffering from stab wounds was also found at the scene and rushed to a hospital in critical condition.
Authorities identified 47-year-old Kaegan Jude Solet of Houma as a person of interest in the killings.
Police were searching for Solet as the investigation unfolded.
Solet has a history of arrests involving previous stabbing cases, although he was not convicted in those incidents.
In January 2019, Solet was charged with murder in the death of Kemple Paul Scott Lovell, a homeless man who had been found stabbed multiple times in Houma.
An anonymous tip later led authorities to Solet, who was reportedly found hiding inside a shed behind a mobile home.
However, a grand jury ultimately declined to indict him after prosecutors said there was not enough evidence to move forward with the case.
Later that same year, Solet was charged with attempted second-degree murder after a woman was found severely injured inside the Red Carpet Inn in Houma.
The victim, Cindy Boudreaux, 59, had reportedly been stabbed multiple times and was found lying in a pool of blood.
She initially accused her boyfriend of attacking her but later identified Solet.
Prosecutors pointed to security footage and DNA evidence placing Solet inside the motel room, but he was found not guilty in November 2023.
Now, authorities are trying to locate him in connection with the latest deadly attack.
The investigation remains active, and officials have not yet released the identities of the four people killed or the injured child.
