A terrifying video of an alligator dragging a reptile center employee into its enclosure is making the rounds online again, years after the shocking incident first unfolded.
The footage, which has resurfaced on social media, shows the heart-stopping moment an alligator at a Utah reptile center clamped down on a handler’s arm and refused to let go.
The incident happened during a visit that included a child’s birthday party, making the scene even more frightening for the families who were there.
In the video, the handler can be seen opening the alligator’s enclosure to feed the animal. Within seconds, the gator lunges, bites down on her arm and pulls her into the water.
Despite the terrifying situation, the employee stays remarkably calm as she tries to control the animal and keep herself from being hurt even worse.
That is when a bystander jumps into action.
The man climbs into the enclosure and gets on the alligator’s back, helping pin the animal down long enough for the handler to free her arm.
Even after being injured, the handler continues guiding the rescue. Once she is out of the alligator’s grip, she calmly coaches the man on how to safely get off the animal’s back without triggering another dangerous move.
The employee later underwent surgery and recovered from her injuries.
The reptile center also released a statement after the original incident, thanking the people who stepped in and praising the handler’s training and composure during the emergency.
