A North Texas mother is facing serious criminal charges after police say her husband and two young children were stabbed inside the family’s home early Tuesday morning.
Holly Leeann Flores, 37, was arrested after Northlake police responded to a residence in the 1200 block of Daylily Drive at about 4:20 a.m. on Oct. 6.
According to police, a 34-year-old man called 911 and reported that his wife had a knife and had stabbed him.
Officers arrived within minutes and detained Flores, authorities said. The man was found with an injury to his head and was taken to a Fort Worth-area hospital for treatment.
As officers conducted a protective sweep of the home, they discovered two children who had also been injured.
Police identified the children as a 3-year-old girl and a 10-month-old boy. Both were taken to the hospital with injuries to their chests.
Northlake Police Chief Robert Crawford said Tuesday that he believed the children would survive.
Flores was also taken to a hospital for observation and treatment before being released into police custody. She was then transported to the Denton County Jail.
Police said she faces two counts of attempted capital murder and one count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
Those charges are accusations, and Flores has not been convicted.
Investigators have not publicly announced a motive or explained what may have led up to the incident.
Crawford said the 911 call appeared to indicate that the husband was trying to reach the children in another room while the confrontation was still unfolding.
Another detail now drawing attention is the family’s previous contact with law enforcement.
Crawford said Northlake police had been called to the same home about five times since March, with most of those calls involving welfare concerns.
Police have not released further details about those earlier incidents, so it remains unclear whether they were connected in any way to Tuesday’s case.
Authorities have also been cautious about some family relationships involved in the case. Police said they believe Flores is the mother of the children, but officials had not publicly confirmed whether the injured man is their father.
The investigation remains open.
