A Republican congressman is sounding the alarm after what he says was a jaw-dropping classified briefing on extraterrestrial life — warning Americans they might lose sleep if they knew what he knows.
Tennessee Rep. Tim Burchett, one of Capitol Hill’s most outspoken voices on UFO transparency, claims the truth about aliens is being kept tightly under wraps — and what’s hidden could be far more unsettling than anyone realizes.
Speaking after a closed-door briefing just weeks ago, Burchett didn’t hold back.
“The public has a right to know, dadgummit. It’s your tax dollars. Let’s get it out there,” he said in an interview with Newsmax.
But it was his next comment that raised eyebrows.
“If the public heard what I’ve heard, they’d be up all night worrying about this stuff.”
Burchett, who sits on the House Task Force on the Declassification of Federal Secrets, says he’s been briefed by multiple federal agencies over the years — and insists there’s far more going on behind the scenes than the government admits.
“I’ve been briefed by just about every alphabet agency there is,” he said. “And I’ll just say this — if they released what I’ve seen, you’d be up at night thinking about it.”
The congressman stopped short of revealing specifics, but suggested a troubling pattern of secrecy — and even hinted at something darker.
“Information keeps getting covered up,” he claimed. “The people that know are dying or disappearing, as the case may be.”
Then came a cryptic warning that only fueled speculation further:
“For the record, I’m not suicidal and I don’t take risks.”
Burchett also suggested that even President Donald Trump may not be fully in the loop — at least not yet.
“A few of us are going to have to get with the president and tell him what he needs to ask and where he needs to look,” he said.
The comments come as interest in UFOs and so-called “UAPs” (unidentified aerial phenomena) continues to surge, with nearly 4,500 sightings reported last year alone, according to the National UFO Reporting Center.
But things took an even more bizarre turn when Burchett was asked about explosive claims from former Florida congressman Matt Gaetz.
Earlier this week, Gaetz alleged he had been told — in a non-classified setting — about supposed “hybrid breeding programs” involving captured aliens and humans.
According to Gaetz, the source claimed there could be as many as a dozen such facilities operating in the United States.
He admitted he had not verified the claims.
Burchett didn’t confirm the allegation — but he didn’t exactly dismiss it either.
“I’m still a member of Congress, so I can’t really comment too much on what Matt said,” he replied carefully.
What he did make clear, however, is his growing frustration with what he sees as a lack of transparency.
“I’m being 100 percent serious,” he insisted. “I’m sick of it. We need to disclose it all.”
His push comes as President Trump recently ordered agencies to begin releasing files tied to UFOs, extraterrestrial life, and related phenomena — though he has publicly said he remains undecided on whether aliens actually exist.
“I never talk about it,” Trump said earlier this year. “A lot of people do. A lot of people believe it.”
For now, the public is left with more questions than answers — and one chilling takeaway from a man who claims he’s seen the truth firsthand:
Whatever’s out there, he says, is enough to keep you awake at night.
