McDonald’s is making a play for cash-strapped customers with a new budget-friendly menu that puts popular items at $3 or less.

The fast-food giant is set to launch its new Under $3 Menu on April 21, giving diners a cheaper way to grab a bite as grocery bills and restaurant prices continue to climb. For many Americans feeling squeezed by inflation, the move could not come at a better time.

The new rollout is designed to bring back value-focused customers who have grown frustrated with rising fast-food prices. While McDonald’s has long been known for cheap eats, recent years have left many fans complaining that even a quick meal now comes with sticker shock.

That is exactly why the company appears to be leaning hard into affordability again.

The Under $3 Menu promises a lineup of lower-cost options meant to give customers more flexibility without draining their wallets. It is the latest sign that major chains are scrambling to win over budget-conscious diners who still want convenience, but are no longer willing to pay premium prices for it.

McDonald’s latest push also comes as competition in the fast-food world gets more intense. With rivals offering meal deals and discounts of their own, keeping prices low has become a major battleground.

For customers, though, the headline is simple: cheaper McDonald’s food is on the way.

And in an economy where every dollar counts, that may be enough to get plenty of people back through the drive-thru.
