A heart-stopping moment involving a school bus and an oncoming train is going viral—and it’s leaving people shaken across the country.
Videos from April 2 in Sumter County, Florida, show the terrifying scene as a school bus carrying dozens of students ends up on active train tracks just as a train barrels toward it with its horn blaring.
Inside the bus, panic erupts.
Footage shows students screaming and crying as the driver moves the bus forward in a desperate attempt to clear the tracks. Seconds later, the train appears to clip the back of the bus as it rushes past.

Miraculously, no injuries were reported.
But the situation could have ended very differently.
Officials say 29 middle school students were on board at the time. The driver, identified as 67-year-old Yvonne Hampton, initially claimed that another vehicle had blocked her path, preventing her from getting off the tracks.
However, investigators say video evidence tells a different story.
Authorities allege the bus entered the crossing even though warning signals were already active—putting everyone on board in serious danger.
Hampton was arrested following the incident and is now facing 29 counts of child neglect, along with additional charges including reckless driving and culpable negligence. She has since been released on bond.
The Sumter County School District has also taken action, firing Hampton after more than a decade on the job.
School officials say the train struck the rear corner of the bus, and the margin between disaster and survival was incredibly small.
“A matter of inches made the difference,” one official said, calling the close call “sobering.”
Now, as the video continues to spread online, many are left asking the same question: how did this come so close to becoming a tragedy?
Because for those students on board, it was a moment they won’t forget anytime soon.
The sad part is that the train hit the rear of the bus instead of the front.
