At Least 13 People Killed in Another Shocking Fireworks Factory Explosion

A devastating explosion at a fireworks factory in India has left at least 13 people dead, marking the second deadly blast in just three days.

The latest incident happened on April 21 near Thrissur, where a firecracker manufacturing unit suddenly erupted, sending shockwaves through the surrounding area.

Dozens of workers were reportedly inside at the time, many preparing fireworks for the upcoming Thrissur Pooram. Officials say around 40 people may have been in the facility when the explosion occurred.

Several others were injured, with at least five in critical condition. Reports indicate some victims suffered severe burns, with injuries covering more than 70% of their bodies. Many were rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment.

The blast was so powerful that nearby homes were damaged, and residents initially thought an earthquake had struck. Fires quickly spread through the facility, and additional explosions made rescue efforts even more dangerous for emergency crews.

This tragedy comes just days after another deadly explosion at a fireworks factory in Virudhunagar, where at least 25 people were killed. That earlier incident also left multiple people injured and triggered further blasts during rescue operations.

Local officials described the latest explosion as “shocking” and “deeply tragic,” confirming that an investigation is now underway to determine what caused the disaster.

Authorities say all fireworks units involved in festival preparations had proper permits, but questions remain about safety conditions inside the facility.

Some officials have suggested extreme heat may have played a role, though the exact cause has not yet been confirmed.
