In newly released DOJ documents, disturbing interview footage shows Jeffrey Epstein insisting he wasn’t “the devil” — even joking about it — during a tense sit-down with former White House strategist Steve Bannon inside Epstein’s infamous Manhattan mansion.
The never-before-seen clips, recorded over multiple sessions, were part of the Justice Department’s January 30 document dump tied to the late financier’s long-shadowed ties to power players around the world.

Bannon pressed Epstein on how he amassed his wealth, accusing him of earning millions by advising people who “do enormous, bad things.” Epstein shrugged off the suggestion, claiming he simply “earned” his money and insisting he did good by funding polio vaccine programs abroad.
In one heated exchange, Epstein lectured Bannon to “ask the mothers” of vaccinated children whether his money made a difference.
Things took a darker turn when Epstein began describing hypothetical parents choosing between cash and life-saving help. “If you told them the devil himself said, ‘I’m going to exchange some dollars for your child’s life…’” he started, before Bannon cut in with the question: “Do you think you are the devil himself?”
Epstein smirked and shot back, “No, but I have a good mirror.”
When Bannon pushed again, saying Epstein had “all the attributes,” the disgraced financier seemed rattled. He asked if the devil was “smart,” then quietly admitted, “The devil scares me.”
The footage also shows Bannon grilling Epstein about being a sexual predator. Epstein insisted he was “tier one” — claiming it was the lowest level — despite being convicted in 2008 for soliciting a minor and under scrutiny again when he was arrested in 2019 on federal sex-trafficking charges.
Epstein died in jail one month later, on August 10, 2019, under circumstances that still spark national debate.
