Dramatic bodycam footage captured the terrifying moment brave New York City Police Department officers rescued a suicidal woman who was hanging dangerously off the ledge of a towering Brooklyn high-rise.

The intense rescue unfolded last Thursday afternoon after police received a 911 call reporting a woman in severe emotional distress around 1:30 p.m.

When officers arrived at the building, they rushed to the rooftop and found the woman sobbing while sitting dangerously close to the edge of the skyscraper more than 100 feet above the ground.

The chilling footage shows officers immediately trying to calm her down as they carefully approached.

“We care about you. We don’t want to see you hurt yourself, OK?” one officer gently told the woman while introducing himself and asking if he could hold her hand.

Soon after, members of the NYPD’s Emergency Services Unit arrived and quickly sprang into action.

Using ropes, harnesses, and a rooftop safety hitch, several officers carefully climbed over the edge of the building to reach the woman directly on the ledge.

Despite the terrifying height, one officer remained remarkably calm as he sat beside her trying to gain her trust.

“We can sit here for 10 minutes. We can sit here for a half hour. I just want to make sure that you’re safe,” the officer told her while balancing on the side of the building.

At one point, the officer even tried to lighten the tense moment with a joke.

“Look where we’re at. We have the best view of the city,” he said.

The woman initially told officers she wasn’t ready to move, so the officer simply stayed there beside her, holding her hand and continuing to talk calmly.

Eventually, the woman agreed to let officers help her.

The incredible footage then shows the rescue team carefully lifting and swinging her back onto the rooftop as multiple officers worked together to pull her safely away from the ledge.
