A woman has been killed after being gored by a bull during a festival in Spain, with the horrifying attack unfolding as she stood outside the safety barriers along the route.
The 64-year-old woman was visiting the village of Ayna in Albacete with her husband from Catalonia when the tragedy happened just before 11 a.m. Saturday.
Video from the scene reportedly showed the woman standing on the road and appearing to wave the bulls and steers along as they approached.
At first, the animals seemed to be moving past her.
The woman then started running back in the direction the herd had come from, but one bull suddenly stopped, turned around and charged.
The woman fell to the ground and was gored as she lay helpless, according to footage of the incident.

Emergency officials later confirmed that she died from her injuries.
A regional emergency services spokesperson said another person was also hurt in a separate incident elsewhere along the bull-running route.
Ayna Mayor Juan Angel Martinez said the woman had stopped near a barrier in an area known as Las Cuevas.
“When she started running, one of the bulls charged at her,” he said.
The bull run was part of annual celebrations honoring the village’s patron saint, Santa Maria de lo Alto.
Following the fatal attack, the rest of Saturday’s festival events were suspended.
Ayna is a small village in the Castilla-La Mancha region with a population of just 577 people, but it draws tourists during the summer because of its mountain scenery and cooler climate.
The village is sometimes nicknamed “Manchegan Switzerland” because it sits between two mountain ranges.
The annual festival began Thursday and had been scheduled to continue through Monday.
The deadly incident comes just weeks after another bull-running festival turned fatal in Mexico.
Two people were killed and 11 others were injured during the Huamantlada 2026 event in Huamantla, Tlaxcala, about 100 miles east of Mexico City.
Footage from that event showed a woman being tossed into the air and reportedly gored in the face by one of the bulls.
One of the men who died was identified as 29-year-old Juan Manuel Filomeno Herrera.
A second victim, Luis Xolocotzi Ramirez, 57, died in the hospital two days later after suffering a skull fracture and a serious goring injury to his chest. He had been transported to a specialist hospital by air ambulance.
A total of 21 fighting bulls were released during the Huamantlada, which is considered one of the largest bull-running events of its kind in the world.
Those deaths were the festival’s first fatalities in eight years.
