A former NFL player has now been missing for more than seven months, and his family says they are desperate for answers.
Sam Beal, who played two seasons as a cornerback for the New York Giants, has not been seen or heard from since July 2025, according to his sister, Essence Zhane.
In a heartbreaking Facebook post, Zhane urged the public to come forward with any information that could help locate her brother.
“Tomorrow makes it seven months since we’ve last heard from or seen my brother,” she wrote. “We’ve done everything we could on our end to piece things together, and at this point we’re in desperate need of support on all ends.”
Zhane said she isn’t focused on answering questions about what may have happened, only on getting answers or some sense of closure.
“I’m a big sister and I need my brother to know that we love you and miss you,” she added. “This has been a heavy feeling for months to carry around.”
According to the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System, Beal was last seen on July 12, 2025. His girlfriend reported that he dropped her off at a family member’s home and borrowed her vehicle, telling her he was heading to work.
Instead, Beal drove to Virginia Beach. During a phone call, he told his girlfriend he planned to return home — but he never did.
The borrowed vehicle was later recovered in Virginia Beach. Inside, investigators found Beal’s shoes and socks on the front passenger floor, along with sand inside the car. Authorities say Beal left with only the clothes he was wearing, a pair of slides, and his wallet containing his bank card and driver’s license.
His sister continues to hope that someone, somewhere, knows something.
